Position Overview
The Team Lead provides day-to-day leadership and operational oversight to the Student Assessment/Support Manager team at the North Assessment Centre. This role ensures the effective delivery of client assessment, academic and career planning, and wraparound support services to learners pursuing foundational learning, post-secondary pathways, apprenticeship programs, or employment opportunities. The Team Lead plays a pivotal role in program coordination, staff development, quality assurance, and achieving service outcomes aligned with BGS and funder expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Supervision
Provide daily leadership, mentorship, and supervision to the Student Assessment/Support Manager team, ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery.
Conduct regular one-on-one check-ins, team meetings, and case reviews to support staff in managing complex client files and achieving service goals.
Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture aligned with BGS values.
Support onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development of team members.
Provide coaching, performance feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
Program Operations & Quality Assurance
Oversee the delivery of student assessment, career counselling, and foundational learning planning services.
Monitor client service plans, documentation standards, and Compass data entry for accuracy, compliance, and quality.
Track and analyze program metrics to ensure achievement of service levels and outcomes.
Identify service gaps or emerging client needs and collaborate with leadership to develop responsive solutions.
Ensure policies, procedures, and funder requirements are followed and consistently applied across the team.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Serve as a point of escalation for complex client situations, funding issues, or service barriers.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including high schools, outreach programs, training providers, and community organizations.
Represent the NAC team at internal and external meetings, partnerships, and events as required.
Support the coordination of group information sessions, workshops, and outreach initiatives.
Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Support the Program Manager with reporting requirements by compiling team data, success stories, and outcome metrics.
Identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement in service delivery and contribute to program enhancement initiatives.
Contribute to the continuous development of tools, resources, and processes that improve client outcomes and team efficiency.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in career development, social sciences, human services, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in student support, career counselling, or employment services, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Strong leadership skills with proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop staff.
Demonstrated ability to manage program operations, service quality, and outcome achievement.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
Skilled in assessment, service planning, and career/educational counselling methodologies.
Current knowledge of Edmonton and Alberta’s labour market, training providers, and community resources.
Proficiency in data tracking, case management systems (e.g., Compass), and Microsoft Office Suite.
